Sustainability and Emissions Reduction

Preserving the Kimberley Experience

Kimberley Coastal Camp occupies a privileged position on one of Australia's most remote and spectacular coastlines.

The wilderness, wildlife and sense of isolation that define the Kimberley are also what make this place so extraordinary. Preserving these qualities is fundamental to everything we do.

Since welcoming our first guests in 1994, we have remained committed to operating thoughtfully within this remarkable environment. Our small-scale, low-impact approach allows guests to experience the Kimberley in comfort while respecting the natural values that make the region unique.

Kimberley Coastal Camp maintains Sustainable Tourism Accreditation through Tourism Council WA and is committed to continual improvement across environmental, cultural and operational sustainability.

A Considered Approach

Hosting a maximum of 16 guests at any one time allows us to deliver highly personalised experiences while maintaining a light operational footprint.

Significant investment has been made in renewable energy infrastructure, including a solar power system supported by battery storage capacity, providing the primary source of energy for camp operations.

Operating Thoughtfully in a Remote Environment

Operating in one of Australia's most remote wilderness destinations requires careful planning and a long-term commitment to environmental stewardship. Across all aspects of our operation, we seek to minimise our impact while maintaining the comfort, safety and personalised experiences our guests expect.

This commitment is reflected in our investment in renewable energy infrastructure, responsible water management, waste reduction initiatives, support for local suppliers and communities, and the ongoing protection of the natural environment that surrounds us.

Our operational practices include:

  • Renewable energy generation and battery storage systems.

  • Responsible water collection, reuse and conservation practices.

  • Waste separation, recycling and composting initiatives.

  • Efficient freight, fuel and supply logistics.

  • Support for local suppliers, businesses and employment.

  • Low-impact tourism practices that protect the Kimberley environment.

Our Emissions Reduction Plan

Kimberley Coastal Camp is committed to continual improvement and will continue to:

  • Maximise the use of solar energy and battery storage systems.

  • Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities to further improve efficiency.

  • Continue reducing waste generation and unnecessary packaging.

  • Support local procurement to reduce transport impacts where practical.

  • Review operational emissions and environmental performance on an ongoing basis.

  • Identify and implement practical opportunities to reduce emissions associated with camp operations.

Looking Forward

Luxury in the Kimberley is inseparable from the landscape itself.

Our commitment is simple: to provide exceptional wilderness experiences while operating with care, respect and consideration for the environment that makes them possible.

Through responsible operations, ongoing investment and continual improvement, Kimberley Coastal Camp will continue to play its part in protecting this extraordinary part of Australia for future generations.

Compliance Statement

Kimberley Coastal Camp is committed to understanding and reducing the environmental impact of its operations and maintains an emissions reduction plan in accordance with the Western Australian Tourism Emissions Reduction Standard.
