Walking into the bush with Tub is a fascinating journey into the Dreamtime stories behind the incredibly preserved rock art he leads you to. At several points having to lie down on the dirt floor of a cave to see the roof, or squeeze through a narrow opening, you will feel privileged to be viewing such a palpable record of indigenous history. Seeing Wandjina art, Bradshaw paintings and Gwion Gwion panels.

Art Guide – John Hayward
Kimberley Coastal Camp is excited to announce that Mr John Hayward has agreed to lead our art tour this August.
John has spent 25 years traveling the Kimberley Country, specifically in the Admiralty Gulf and Mitchell Plateau region. John’s knowledge of not only the country but of the art in this area is second to none. John was fortunate enough to have travelled and worked with the late Grahame Walsh, indigenous art expert, with a particular focus on Gwion Gwion (Bradshaw art)
John played a key role over 3 years, in guiding members of an archaeological team to areas of interest and carrying out dating work using various techniques in addition to excavations of occupational areas. John was also fortunate to work with Bert Roberts who developed the luminescence dating technique in the early 90’s
John also ran his own rock art/bush tour business for several years prior to taking up the position as ranger for Parks and Wildlife for 13 years, based at the Mitchell Falls. He loves to share his knowledge of the bush as he knows it, a realist in many ways, John will share with you his stories, vast experience and dry humour to give a truly unique Kimberley Coastal Camp experience.
